𝐉𝐈𝐂𝐀 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐌𝐁𝐇𝐓𝐄 𝐓𝐄𝐒𝐃 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫
The JICA Mission Team, lead by JICA Chief Representative Sakamoto Takema, visited MBHTE TESD Regional Manpower Development Center at barangay Rebuken, Sultan Kudarat Municipality this August 25, 2022. The site visit was conducted in relation to the Japanese government’s grant to the Philippines for the further stabilization of the peace process in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) through socioeconomic programs.
One of the main projects of this grant is the financial assistance on technical-vocational education and training (TVET) for decommissioned combatants through infrastructure and training equipment support for the MBHTE TESD training centers. This includes the rehabilitation of the Provincial/City Manpower Development Center (PCMDC) in Marawi City, construction of dormitories, and procurement of training equipment.
JICA has also granted further technical assistance for MBHTE TESD to provide Training of Trainers for relevant trade areas as well as develop monitoring and evaluation tools that can help enhance the programs and projects for the decommissioned combatants as well as their families.
The MBHTE TESD training centers implements center-based skills trainings to instill the Bangsamoro people with technical knowledge, skills and attitudes enabling them to become active and productive members of society and to meet and match industry demand with competent and globally competitive workforce.
JICA has also strongly expressed its full support on the normalization process to sustain the peace in the Bangsamoro land and emphasized the role of TVET in providing employable skills that can help the Bangsamoro people, especially the decommissioned combatants, find jobs or start their own gainful activities.
MBHTE TESD also pledged its full cooperation in ensuring sustainability of the project.
