MBHTE PRESENTS BUDGET PROPOSAL FOR IMPROVEMENT OF QUALITY OF EDUCATION FOR FY 2021 IN BARMM

Anchored with the 12 priority areas of the education sector, the Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE) presented the ministry’s budget proposal before the Ministry of Finance and Budget, and Management (MFBM) on Tuesday, December 1, 2020.

Minister Mohagher Iqbal emphasized that the proposed programs and projects under the MBHTE were assured to be aligned with the needs and improvement of quality of education in the region. The ministry also allocated funds for the improvement of services to the educators and teachers in the Bangsamoro region.

Iqbal added that the aim of the MBHTE does not only encompass the learners in the schools but also prioritizes the welfare of the workforce of MBHTE especially its teachers.

According to the MFBM, the Technical Budget Hearing is one of the significant activities in the Bangsamoro Government that aims to review, assess and scrutinize the budget proposals of the different ministries and offices. It also aims to measure the level of performance, utilization rates, absorptive capacity and viability of their plans and budget.

“The amount shall propel the implementation and delivery of educational services to the educators, workforce and learners for Basic, Higher, Technical and Madaris Education in the region,” said Iqbal.

Being the primary ministry responsible for the educational system of the Bangsamoro region, the formulation of the MBHTE 2021 budget proposal went through a thorough and rigorous review to ensure that the proposal was transparent, policy-oriented and responsive to the Article IX Section 16 of the RA 11054 or the Bangsamoro Organic Law which emphasized the development of educational framework relevant and responsive to the needs, ideals, and aspirations of the Bangsamoro people.
