MBHTE TESD Basilan inks MOA with the Autonomous Basilan Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Industry

The Technical Education and Skills Development (TESD) Basilan Provincial Office of the Ministry of Basic, Higher, and Technical Education (MBHTE) signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the Autonomous Basilan Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ABICCI) to ensure that the skills priorities and technical vocational education and training (TVET) programs are well attuned to Basilanโ€™s economic environment.

The agreement aims to steer TVET towards more market-oriented and demand-driven programs to be able to produce job-ready TVET graduates in the province of Basilan.

One of the strategies puts focus on equipping the middle-level workforce with relevant skills through competency-based formal skills training. The proposed skills trainings intends to enhance and upgrade the level and standard of workers in the province which would help raise the competitive index of the business sector.

The Agreement also includes collaboration and provision of industry experts in implementing TVET programs and services. These industry experts will be assisting in developing contextualized training regulations and skills mapping.

The Partnership is just among the many activities of the MBHTE TESD to achieve the Bangsamoro Development Goals to ensure access to and delivery of quality services for human capital development.

Present during the MOA signing are Member of Parliament Hon. Hatimil Hassan, OIC Minister Abu Amri Taddik of the Ministry of Trade, Investment and Tourism (MTIT), President of ABICCI Hj. Asimin Sarikin, MBHTE TESD Basilan Provincial Director Muida Hataman, and other members of the chamber and industry players.
