On November 6, 2020, A total of 216 patients have recovered from the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) across the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) as of Friday night as per Bangsamoro Inter-Agency Task Force recent updates.

Also, with the partnership of World Health Organization (WHO), Ministry of Health (MOH) in BARMM and other Local Government Unit, most of health key agencies and units offers free basic helpful information in contact tracing, an established practice in public of identifying contacts, conduct, profiling of patient/client and do a follow up referral to health facilities assigned in the area, perform data collection, etc. as part of an effort to contain transmission of diseases. In addition to that TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) can be utilized to address the immediate training needs of health workers, those engaged in the production of PPEs, and those who provide child or eldercare. With the free training provided to us we will maximize the opportunity where TEDSA one of Philippines’ Technical Vocational Education and Training authority in partnership with the Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education will tap in the most strategic ways in decelerating the transmission COVID19 pandemic to different BARMM constituents.

More than 30 trainers have joined the training of trainees for the contact tracing. But for this conference, it is quite a bit different since we have some of the leading health personnel who have joined and made some engagement during the orientation. Training was presented via online zoom conference with trainers who are coming from different provinces of the BARMM Region. Basic COVID19 information, guidelines, interviewing skills, and will transition until November 13 for the rest and final training day. It was conducted in partnership with the World Health Organization Philippines, the BARMM Ministry of Health, and the Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education.

Ms. Jullie Villadolid the Health Emergency Coordinator representative of the Philippine World Health Organization added “for more effective output for training we need to tap also other health organizations and LGU about contact tracing survey or statistic resources not only that most of the agencies already have some human resource based on experience on the field training and actual tracing. We can get utilize this information and use it to maximize our data inputs. Harold Doroteo from the Department of Health provided a substantial presentation of COVID19, its overview and situation update, policies, guidelines, contact tracing definition, goals, some basic key-steps, and a lot more. Ms. Aisha Aloha Enampadan head of the Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit of the Ministry of Health provided some important steps and processes during the interview process of contact tracing. It is one of the key considerations in getting a good relationship with the target person or patient. She also emphasized that in the BARMM Region there are different ways of approaching or interviewing a patient taken into consideration are their beliefs, culture, and religion. Wherein there are some as per advice that it is much very appropriate for a female health representative/health front liner to interview a female patient to avoid awkwardness and to inhibit cooperation with the interviewee as soon as possible. We must take priority that time is essential in the contact tracing.

As we remember one of the renowned agency in the Philippines who’se tasked to both manage and supervise the Philippines Technical Education and Skills Development, TESDA chief spearheaded the virtual class opening on September 4, 2020, for the first batch of learners for the contact tracing program (CTTP) in the MUNTIPARLASTAPAT Training and Assessment Center. National Taskforce agency wants to hire a large number of contact tracers very quickly to help control the transmission of the pandemic including the BARMM Regions. We take this action as urgent to maximize deceleration and also the acceleration of COVID19 recovery to every part of the region may it urban or rural areas.

We might say that a lot of people including the BANGSAMORO community are seeking employment as contact tracers either as a full-time position which part of the gig economy where everyone is using online tools for everyday life interaction. This will support to the BARMM constituents and provide immediate and effective solution to prevent and halt acceleration and hasten deceleration of the transmission of the COVID19 virus.
